Birdman ha vencido su particular batalla a Boyhood en los Óscar 2015, y con mucha distancia. La película de Alejandro González Iñárritu se ha convertido en la Mejor película, pero además ha tenido otros premios importantes como Mejor director, Mejor guion original o Mejor fotografía.
Tan solo Patricia Arquette ha logrado poner la nota de color para la amarga noche de Boyhood. La intérprete se ha llevado el Óscar a la Mejor actriz de reparto superando, aquí sí, a Emma Stone por Birdman.
Otra de las grandes triunfadoras de la noche ha sido El gran hotel Budapest, aunque la mayoría de sus premios han sido técnicos. Estos han sido: Banda sonora, vestuario, maquillaje y peluquería, y diseño de producción.
Una de las sorpresas de la noche la ha dado Whiplash. La película ha conseguido tres estatuillas con JK Simmons como la principal cabeza gracias a su Óscar al Mejor actor de reparto. También se ha llevado este film Mejor montaje y Mejor montaje de sonido.
